The trees are called BOCOTES. We call the flower FLOR DE LOS MUERTOS because they always bloom during the observance of Día de los Muertos.

Its scientific name is CORDIA GERASCANTHUS and it is also called MEXICAN ROSEWOOD in English. It is used as a hardwood for everything from floors to cabinets to pencils.

I believe there is quite a bit of information about this on the 'Net since many products are made from this exotic tropical wood.
