Actually I found that the Hotel Uruapan Plaza has better rooms at about 50 % the cost (720 pesos mid week, less on weekends). Now the Masion del Cupatitzio does have a great locat1on & lovely grounds/pool but the rooms are so crammed with furniture I found it a bit unsettling & at 1,400 plus pesos for a double standard room just too much for what you get. The restaurant La Trucha across the street however is a Must for lunch. Fresh killed trout while overlooking a waterfall. I enjoyed the walk from El Centro to the National Park (not state) & back taking different streets, We found some local handicraft shops on the walk & also a fabulous artist who's work reflect the local scene.
